Barb has over 20 years of experience in developing technology platforms for measurement and automation of various industries ranging from climate monitoring to biotechnology. She holds over 42 patents across these fields.
Today, Barb is the Founder and CEO of Codex Labs, that is focused on providing clinically proven solutions for those with skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, rosacea and eczema.
She is also the founder of Sekhmet Ventures, a fund specializing in companies with female and diverse founders with science-based health and wellness solutions.
Barb co-founded and was CEO at Finesse Solutions, that revolutionized process control (sensors and automation) of single-use bio-processing and helped significantly reduce costs and scale up times in manufacturing vaccines (including COVID-19), cancer therapeutics and gene therapy. She sold the company in 2017 to Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Previously, Barb was CTO of Picarro, a company she founded in 1998. At Picarro, she was responsible for technology strategy, research, and business development, which led to a solid-state Cyan laser product in 2003 and cavity ring-down spectroscopy products in 2004. Today, CRDS is the primary tool in monitoring climate change through greenhouse gases.
Barb was also a partner at Skymoon Ventures from 2003 to 2017.
Barb received both her Ph.D. (1998) and M.S.E.E. (1994) degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, and her BS (1993) in electrical engineering/applied mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
